If UG denies you...just go underground.
HINT: We're the underground. |

The "lessons" are some of the better stuff on UG.
The music blogs are ok.
Some of the tabs are horrible though. With some of them being so far off, it won't fool my grandma. |

Uh, no. I barely use Guitar Pro myself.
Part of the reason I hate Guitar Pro is because it's so limiting. |

what do you mean?
I been fucking around with it a lot lately, seems there is nothing you can't do if you know how.
Looking at my tabs i've written in ASCII/txt.... you're using the force for timing.
to do it the right way.
4/4 timing means 4 beats to the bar (imagine we will rock you's beat) BassDrum BassDrum Snare - rest
thats 4 beats to the bar... boom boom bang rest - boom boom bang... so like , 1, 2, 3 rest... if you go in 8th notes, it's like 1-1, 2-2-, 3-3, rest-rest... the rest can be either two 8th notes, or one single note.
but imagine it like the 1, 2, 3, 4 beat is one bar.
the notations you use are ...
green = sustained for 4 beats
pink = 2 beats
blue = 1 beat (use for for a note on each beat)
light blue = 8th/half note (2 half notes = 1 beat)
green = 16th (4 of these = one beat)
yellow = 32nd note (8 = one beat)
white = 64th note (16 = one beat)
the dot adds one beat to the duration of it (like a double note of the same timing played again, but in sustain form so it's one note)
)-3 looking thing is triplet notes, it links the notes together (look at dirty deeds solo for an example of how it's used) the option can change it to 6ths, and so on....
|~ thingie... is a rest (nothing is played)
there is also that ) icon, on it's side... type in two notes, then link it... it's for a note that continues into the next bar while ringing, which can help to link a note that had a duration period, but does not fit into the single bar.
who made who has examples of that you can check out. you see the note is in the notation, but not in the tab, because it's just ringing, it's not played.
you just have to know how to put your notes in, and which one's need to be applied for the exact sound it is played at. _________________

I wasn't talking about that type of limiting, I was talking about limiting in terms of the sounds you can make.
Even though it does have the RSE, it can only go so far, and doesn't have every guitar. Also, certain instruments are only MIDI, which is limiting in itself. Any type of sampling like that limits you. |

Yeah, cause the only electrics you can choose from at the moment are the Strat and the Les Paul.
AC/DC uses neither. |
